With Christ

In her notes there are numerous copies of this poem with scribbled notes describing to whom she sent the poem, the adaptations she made for that particular person and the places where she read it out. It was always headed like this:

“With Christ, which is far better” Philippians 1:23 (AV)

“With Christ”
My dear one, Lord, is now with you
And naught can dim that wondrous view;
He’s gone from me, to be with You –
For him it is “far better”.

“With Christ”
I thank you Lord that now I know
For him there are no tears to flow,
For there all tears are wiped away –
For him it is “far better”.

“With Christ”
Now there with You he has no pain
And he can smile and laugh again,
He has your sunshine after rain –
For him it is “far better”.

“With Christ”
I leave my loved on in your care
It was Your time to take him there;
You gave us Life that we could share –
For him is it “far better”.

“With Christ”
One day, O Lord, you’ll come for me,
Then with my loved one I will be,
And we will both be praising Thee
For us ’twill be “far better”.
