Mars Bar fondue

We’ve heard of Mars Bar ice cream, frozen Mars Bars and deep fried Mars Bars so now here’s the fondue. It’s sweet, decadent and totally over the top but once you’ve made one you’ll soon be planning your next one.

Trust me.

Ingredients

2 Mars Bars

150ml (5 fl oz) double cream

115g (4oz) plain chocolate

To serve with:

Tangerine segments, strawberries, chunks of apple, kiwi fruit, cherries or anything you like enrobed in the brown stuff.

Method

Chop up the Mars BarsĀ  and chocolate and put them into the fondue pot. Then heat the pot over simmering water until they begin to melt. (Basically you’re creating a bain marie [2]. Don’t just put the pot on the flame as you’ll burn the chocolate and it will taste bitter.)

Add the cream, continue to heat gently while stirring occasionally and keep going until the mixture is smooth.

Transfer the pot to the burner and keep the heat as low as possible.

Serve the fondue with chopped fruit and sponge fingers.
