Hosting an event around ‘The Road Not Chosen’
our vision
We want to help ordinary people become better equipped to handle losses. Losses come in a variety of guises and we each handle them differently. We believe that having Christ at our side can make an enormous difference to the way we cope with loss. He can help us to become better people, not bitter people.
what we can do
When we do a ‘Road not Chosen’ evening we typically do these things:
- Talk openly about our own journey and it’s twists and turns. We will tell our story, including some of its sad and its stupid moments. We’ll illustrate some of these by reading passages from the book.
- Take the people who attend through a simple exercise of thinking about their own gains and losses and engage in a conversation about it.
- Use some video material to stimulate discussion about what grieving looks like, why it seems so overwhelming at the time, and how we can be ready for major losses by handling the minor ones well.
- Share some key passages from the Bible that unpack questions like ‘Why does God let bad things happen to good people?’
- Have copies of the book for people to buy.
Normally the evening event will take just over an hour
