I had my first camera at the age of about six or seven when my grandmother was throwing out some old kit, one of which was a camera. It was an old bellows device which took 680 film on which I burned most of my pocket money. With the help of my father, who encouraged me to look at the world through a photographic lens, I began to take pictures. Every picture was precious and I had to rely on my parents to fund the developing of the images. But they paid for one roll of film a year (!) and another one while we were on holiday. So my output was not huge! But they’d started something and gave me a love for photography that has never left me.
