Paul takes the usual format for writing a letter and gives it a twist.

Things to talk about or reflect on:

  • Have a look at the way Paul introduces himself in 1 Timothy 1:1-2 and Galatians 1:1-5 and play spot-the difference.
  • Ian spoke about the word ‘saints’ carrying the idea of us being distinctive in a good way. Talk about how we can be stand out in a positive way in our front line (i.e. the place where we work or spend most of the day).
  • Talk about what comes to mind when you use the word ‘grace’. You can also see grace at work in 2 Chronicles 33:12-13, Psalm 51:1 (although the word doesn’t appear, the concept is there)
  • Look at John 1:14 and 1:16 to see grace used in two different ways.
